Curatorial Statement
UNO Printed
UNO Printed features three distinct areas of print production within the School of the Arts, all center around acts of collaboration. The exhibition was curated by Rebecca Norris, featuring an installation highlighting Book Arts by guest curator Kyle Nobles.
Book Arts
Book Arts is an umbrella term applied to a dynamic range of related processes and materials including papermaking, letterpress, bookbinding, and more. This variety lends itself to endless creative possibilities.
Featured here are the ephemera and tools of the craft of the three main pillars of this artform, inviting a multi-sensory experience of sight, sound, and touch. The accompanying videos underscore the collaborative nature among these different processes: the inherent combination of 2D and 3D artmaking, working with narrative as an interactive/time-based media, and the intersection of text and image.
This exhibition was made possible through the assistance of: AB Gorham, Assistant Professor of Book Arts and Papermaking, and Jenna Janssen & Lyle Kwiatkowski of KVNO for their assistance in the creation of custom videos for the installation.
